This is the second course of a typical Moroccan wedding meal. It is called "pastilla" and is made of shredded chicken, almonds, cinnamon (and other ingredients but I can't remember what) and then it is baked within a pastry topped with powdered sugar. Some people explain it to be a "chicken donut". Sounds unappetizing but it is actually quite tasty.
Here we are in our fancy clothes! Needless to say, Sarah and I did not bring any wedding appropriate clothes to Morocco with us but our friends were kind enough to help us out. Traditionally, Moroccan women wear "caftans" (which is the outfit on the left that Charli is wearing) to weddings. They are very expensive, the fabric is extraordinary, and perfect for dancing! Women truly do go all out with their clothes and jewelry...(this may be unbelievable to many ears but i have found that i have a newfound obsession with GOLD...i love it!)
